MetroConnect

Privacy Policy

Effective: September 17, 2026

MetroConnect ("the app") is an independent transit companion for the New York / New Jersey region, published by AI Gaur LLC. It is not affiliated with the MTA, NJ Transit, or the Port Authority of NY & NJ.

Data we collect

The app has no accounts and no advertising. Favorites, saved commutes, and transit preferences are stored on your device. Fetching live transit data makes network requests to agency services and MetroConnect-hosted feed services; these requests expose standard connection information, such as your IP address, to the services handling them.

Location

If you grant the optional approximate-location permission, it is used only on your device to show nearby stations and start a trip from your nearest station. Location is never stored, transmitted, or shared. Denying it simply defaults the Nearby screen to midtown Manhattan.

Usage analytics

To see how the app is used and where to improve it, MetroConnect collects anonymous, aggregate usage events — for example when the app is opened, which screens and features are used (trip planning, live boards, alerts), which transit systems you have enabled, and when a trip search returns no results (so we can find and fix coverage gaps).

These events are sent only to MetroConnect’s own servers and stored by us. They are never shared with any third party, ad network, or analytics company. We do not collect your name, email, precise location, or advertising ID, and we do not log IP addresses for analytics. The only identifier is a random ID generated on your device that is not linked to your identity; it lets us count unique users and measure retention.

You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings → “Anonymous usage analytics.” When it is off, nothing is queued or sent.

Data stored on your device

Network requests

The app retrieves public transit data from agency sources and MetroConnect-hosted services. MetroConnect's feed services cache NJ TRANSIT data and MTA subway GTFS-Realtime arrivals; PATH and other feeds use their configured public sources. Live updates require an internet connection. Favorites and saved commutes are not included in transit-feed requests.

Data sources & accuracy

Schedules and live estimates come from cached agency feeds and may lag official sources. Always confirm critical trips with the agencies' official apps.

Children

The app is not directed at children. The anonymous usage analytics described above contain no personal information.

Future changes

MetroConnect is currently free of advertising, and its usage analytics are anonymous and optional (described above). If advertising or paid features are introduced in the future, this policy will be updated in advance and the in-app disclosures will change accordingly before any such feature is enabled.
